Bexley has maintained its position as London’s top borough for recycling after residents helped deliver another increase in its recycling rate.
Bexley has been number 1 in the capital for recycling for a phenomenal 15 years in succession.
The latest figures by Defra show that the borough recycles 54.1% of its household waste.
Jackie Belton, the Council’s Chief Executive said: “We would like to thank residents for the work they have done to help us maintain this fantastic record. Recycling is good for the environment and saves us all money, so we are very proud to be top of the tree and continuing to increase our recycling rate.”
With the continued support of residents, the Council hopes to reduce waste, and increase its recycling rate further next year, with improvements to its recycling services and its reuse and recycling centres.
