Latest testing site in Bexley opens at Abbey Wood

Bexley’s next NHS coronavirus testing site is due to start operating this week.

The Abbey Wood site at the Felixstowe Road Car Park, SE2 9RZ will be open from 8am to 8pm by appointment only.

Anyone experiencing a new, continuous cough, a high temperature, or a loss of or change in their normal sense of smell or taste, should book a test online or by calling 119. It is vital that only people with symptoms get a test.

Only attend the site if you have booked a test in advance.

More information on the site, including information on getting to and from the test site safely, is provided when you book your test. Extra support is available for those in vulnerable groups and people with disabilities when they book their appointment.

Other people in an individual’s household should not get a test unless they also have any of the three symptoms listed above. However, all members of the household need to self-isolate while waiting for the test result.

If you have symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) but cannot get a test within five days of your symptoms first developing, you must protect yourself and others by self-isolating for 14 days.

Leader of the London Borough of Bexley, Cllr Teresa O’Neill OBE said: “Having another local testing site in the borough is great news for local people. We are still battling this terrible virus and by sticking to the latest Government restrictions, getting a test if you need one and following the isolation rules, we can beat it.”

The other testing sites in the borough are at 221 Erith Road, Bexleyheath and a mobile testing unit at Sidcup Manor House.

Please do not attend any of the test sites unless you have booked your appointment in advance.
