Temporary free parking arrangements come to an end

The temporary parking arrangements in place since early March allowing free parking for key workers and volunteers in Bexley will end on 30 June.

During the early days of the pandemic, Bexley introduced the three-month parking exemption scheme to help specific essential key workers.  It is believed that Bexley were among the first of the London boroughs to implement such a scheme.

Cabinet Member for Places, Cllr Peter Craske said:

“Coronavirus has had a huge impact on us all, and on Council services, but we were one of the first Councils in London to set up our temporary free parking scheme for key workers and carers.

Our staff did a brilliant job to have it up and running within just a few hours and then register 4,000 people on the scheme.

As we move into the recovery phase and begin to return towards being able to operate normal service levels, this scheme will close at the end of the month.

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered or worked as a key worker or carer during this crisis. It is just one example of what makes Bexley such a strong community.”
